Square Lokta Paper Lampshades: Every Design in the Collection

Fourteen square lokta paper lampshades, each hand-printed with a different Buddhist or Himalayan motif — all made by hand in Nepal from natural lokta paper. Dragon, Buddha Eye, Ashtamangal, Amogsiddhi in five colours, White Tara, Red Buddha, Red Elephant, Red Green Tara, Endless Knot, Yin Yang & Nepali Flag, Prayer Wheel, Leaf, and Sun. Here is what each design means and where it works best.

Dragon

One of the four dignities of Tibetan tradition — strength, transformation, abundance. The dragon body spans the full face of the square panel. Best for: study rooms, home offices, creative workspaces.

Ashtamangal — Eight Auspicious Symbols

All eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan Buddhism on one shade — parasol, golden fish, treasure vase, lotus, conch, endless knot, victory banner, dharma wheel. A comprehensive protective and auspicious design for entryways, living rooms, and meditation spaces.

Buddha Eye

The Wisdom Eyes from the Boudhanath Stupa, gazing outward from all four faces of the shade. Luminous and present when lit. Best for: entryways, meditation rooms.

Amogsiddhi — Five Colours

One of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, available in orange, green, red, blue, and yellow. Green is the traditional Amogsiddhi colour. All five together form a complete mandala — popular as a pendant cluster. Choose the colour that matches your room's mood.

White Tara, Red Buddha, Red Elephant, Red Green Tara

White Tara for healing and compassion — her seven eyes watching over the room. Red Buddha for devotional warmth. Red Elephant for strength and auspicious beginnings. Red Green Tara combining active compassion with transformative energy. All four are traditional Himalayan subjects on natural lokta paper.

Sacred Symbols & Nature

Red Endless Knot — interconnectedness in red. Yin Yang & Nepali Flag — balance and national identity. Prayer Wheel — the turning of mantras. Leaf and Sun — natural forms that work in any room without requiring familiarity with Buddhist iconography.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is lokta paper?

Handmade paper from the Himalayan Daphne plant — Nepal's traditional paper-making material, hand-produced the same way for centuries. Strong, translucent, and beautifully textured.

Standard fitting?

Yes — all our square lampshades use standard fittings compatible with most lamp bases and pendant fittings.

Which design for a meditation room?

Ashtamangal, Buddha Eye, or White Tara are the most traditional. Amogsiddhi in green or blue creates a calm, expansive atmosphere.
