25.5-Inch Handcarved Copper Manjushree Statue - Transcendent Wisdom Sculpture
This stunning 25.5-inch high copper statue of Manjushree exemplifies the epitome of traditional craftsmanship. Handmade by a fourth-generation artisan, this statue boasts exquisite, intricate, and flawlessly smooth details that showcase the unparalleled talent of its creator.
Manjushri, depicted here as a male Bodhisattva, wields a flaming sword in his right hand, symbolizing the attainment of transcendent wisdom that dispels ignorance and duality. In his left hand, he cradles a Prajnaparamita sutra atop a Padma (lotus), signifying his ultimate realization born from the blossoming of wisdom. Manjushree sits gracefully upon a single lotus, his sacred seat.
According to the Swayambhu Purana, the Kathmandu Valley was once a vast lake. Legend has it that Manjushri, upon seeing a lotus flower at the heart of the lake, cleaved a gorge at Chovar to allow the waters to drain away. The spot where the lotus settled later became the revered Swayambhunath Stupa, transforming the valley into a thriving habitat.
